Kamalabari Satra

Assam is home to the world’s biggest river islands. Its development was significantly influenced by the Brahmaputra River and its tributaries. This island has historically served as Assam’s neo-Vaishnavite cultural hub. One of Majuli’s most well-known Satras, the Kamalabari, was established by Bedulapadma Ata. It has been and continues to be the centre of classical studies, literature, and culture. The state has received a lot of famous cultural leaders from this Satra. This Satra includes performances by several well-known dancers from Assam’s traditional dance heritage, including Muktiyar Bayan and the late Maniram Dutta.

Dakhinpat Satra

The Dakhinpat Satra is one of the most well-liked satras on Majuli Island in the state of Assam. This Satra was established in 1584 by Vamshigopal, a devotee of Sri Vanamalidev. Thousands of devotees go from all over the world to this satra to experience the tranquilly of the place. The entry gate of the satra is etched with a number of exquisite flower patterns, religious symbols, and animal shapes. Garmur

The Garamur Satra is one of the Majuli Island’s royal satras. Jayaharideva established it in 1656 AD, and now it is revered as a prominent holy site. This antique satra has a really depressing aura. The two Garmurs that once existed have been merged into one. This Vaishnavite location in Majuli may include many antiques and antiquities, which may help visitors have a better knowledge of the people’ religious customs. Sri Sri Pitambardev Goswami initiated the conversion to a semi-monastic monastery at this location. In the satra, worshipers assemble in a communal prayer room to enlist the blessings of the All-Powerful.

Auniati Satra

Sultanla, a ruler of the Ahom people, founded the Auniati Satra in 1653 AD. The deity that is revered in this satra is the Lord Krishna, sometimes referred to as Govinda. This goddess, which is originally from Jagannath Puri, was built here. Twelve branches of this well-known satra are located around the state, with the main branch being in North Guwahati. This satra is recognised as the spiritual and cultural centre of Satriaya and Vaishnavism in Assam. The satra engages in daily religious obligations as well as a number of extracurricular pursuits including teaching different religious texts, performing music and dance at satriayas, and compiling biographies of Vaishnavite saints.

Tengapania

Tengapania is a gorgeous place located in Majuli on the banks of the Brahmaputra River. The Disangmukh, Machkhoa, and Dhakuakhana all round this magnificent place. Weather in Majuli

Summer:It could be difficult to explore Majuli in the summer. As the warmth rises, it becomes challenging to wander around Majuli without sweating or feeling ill. March marks the start of the summer season, which might run until June. On rare occasions, the temperature reaches beyond 30 degrees Celsius.

Monsoon:The monsoon season may go all the way through September and starts in July. During the rainy season, Majuli’s environment is given a certain freshness. The temperature throughout the monsoon season is consistently cold, hovering about 20 degrees Celcius.

How to Reach Majuli

By Road: Majuli is a river island that lacks any substantial road connections to other towns or cities. Buses and taxis are so unable to bring guests to the little island. Road access is available to Jorhat. Travelers must take a 7-hour bus ride from Guwahati to Jorhat. Travelers can also use a private cab to go to Jorhat. However, they will need to rely on ferries to go to Majuli from here.

By Train: There are no railway stations in Majuli. The nearest rail station to Majlu is Jorhat, where tourists must board trains to go there. Buses and taxis may be used to go from Jorhat to Neemati Ghat, where passengers can board boats that will transport them to Majuli.

By Air: Guwahati and other eastern and northeastern cities have regular flights to Jorhat Airport, also known as Rowriah Airport. The distance between Neemati Ghat and Jorhat is around 14 kilometers, and you may get there by bus or taxi. From Neemati Ghat, travelers may take ferries to Majuli. There are two boat journeys from Neemati Ghat to Majuli each day.
