Majuli Caving Tour Packages

Majuli is a river island in Assam on the Brahmaputra River. It is also the largest island in Asia and the second-largest freshwater river island in the world. It is in a remote place. Since this location is separeted from the constant rush and excitement of the mainland, nature has infiltrated and enticed its people into a life of calm. The Kherkutia Xuti meets the Subansiri River in the north, while the Brahmaputra flows through the island’s south. Previously, the island was more than 1500 square kilometres. The Brahmaputra floods, on the other hand, were not so benevolent, eroding roughly one-third of the island. Majuli has shrunk to 352 square kilometres. This island is still being eroded by the Brahmaputra. However, because it is vast enough to accommodate a significant number of tiny towns, a new district was recently established there. The region is home to several tribes, most notably the Mishings.

Places to visit during Majuli Caving Tour

Kamalabari Satra

The largest river islands in the world are found in Assam. Its growth was greatly aided by the Brahmaputra River and its tributaries. This island has long been the hub of neo-Vaishnavite culture in Assam. One of Majuli’s most well-known Satras, the Kamalabari, was founded by Bedulapadma Ata. It has been and still is the hub of classical studies, literature, art, and culture. Many notable cultural leaders for the state have come from this satra. Several well-known dancers from Assam’s traditional dance culture are featured in this Satra, including the late Maniram Dutta and Muktiyar Bayan.

Dakhinpat Satra

On Majuli Island in the state of Assam, one of the most well-known satras is the Dakhinpat Satra. This Satra was founded in 1584 by a devotee of Sri Vanamalidev by the name of Vamshigopal. To feel the peace of the location, thousands of devotees go from all over the world to this satra. Numerous gorgeous floral forms, religious symbols, and animal representations are engraved on the satra’s entrance gate. The inside walls of the satra are adorned with a variety of exquisite paintings and sculptures. Dakhinpat Satra, which is referred to as a dance sanctuary, is attributed with being founded by Sri Sankardeva. Monks known as bhakts reside in satras and spend their entire lives serving the Lord.

Garmur

One of Majuli Island’s royal satras is the Garmur Satra. It was founded in 1656 AD by Jayaharideva and is revered as a significant holy site. This old satra has a somewhat ominous vibe. There were initially two Garmurs, but they eventually amalgamated into one. This Vaishnavite shrine in Majuli has a large collection of ancient artefacts and antiquities that might assist visitors understand the locals’ religious practises. Initiating the transformation of this monastery into a semi-monastic one was Sri Sri Pitambardev Goswami. In the satra, worshippers congregate in a communal prayer space to ask the Almighty for his blessings.

Auniati Satra

In 1653 AD, Sultanla, an Ahom king, founded the Auniati Satra. In this satra, Lord Krishna, also referred to as Govinda, is the god worshipped. This deity was put here and originally hails from Jagannath Puri. This well-known satra has twelve branches spread all over the state, with its main branch being in North Guwahati. In Assam, this satra is regarded as the Satriaya and Vaishnavite religions’ cultural heartland. Daily religious duties and extracurricular activities like singing and dancing at satriayas, teaching different religious texts, and writing biographies of Vaishnavite saints are under the purview of the satra.

Tengapania

On the Brahmaputra River’s banks not far from Majuli lies the lovely location known as Tengapania. Machkhoa, Dhakuakhana, and the Disangmukh surround this magnificent spot on all sides. Additionally, it’s a well-liked location for picnics where you can spend time with loved ones while being surrounded by the beauty of nature. Tengapania is well framed by the river, which adds to the area’s appeal. A golden temple building in the Ahom architectural style may be seen here. Weather in Majuli

Summer:During the summer months, Majuli has an extremely hot and humid environment. The highest temperature in Majuli can reach 38 degrees Celsius, while the lowest remains close to 28 degrees Celsius. As a result, if you visit Majuli during the warmest months of the year, you will be unable to fully enjoy your Majuli vacation. The summer season in Majuli begins in early March and lasts until the end of July.

Monsoon:Majuli has a rainy season from the beginning of June until the end of August, with temperatures ranging from 22 to 32 degrees Celsius. Due to high rains during the period, the majority of its shoreline was buried below the Brahmaputra River. Although rain occasionally improves the beauty of this isle, it is suggested that you avoid visiting during the rainy season. Because increases in river velocity and level make it impossible for ferry passengers to travel their ferry through this violent flowing water.

Winter:Winter is undoubtedly the ideal season to visit Majuli since temperatures fluctuate between 25 and 17 degrees Celsius during the winter months. How to Reach Majuli

By Road: Majuli is an island, which is situated in the middle of a river therefore, arriving at the island by road is not possible. Travellers have to opt for a bus service to Jorhat from Guwahati first, secondly from Jorhat they have to avail of a cab service again to Nemmati Ghat which is 22 kilometres away from Jorhat. Neemati Ghat is the place where travellers have to urge for a ferry to reach the island

By Train: Majuli does not have any railhead therefore, a traveller has to catch a train from Guwahati Railhead to Jorhat Railhead. Which is supposed to be the nearest railhead to Majuli. From Jorhat Station travellers have to cover a journey of 22 kilometres to reach the location of Neemati Ghat. From where travellers have to continue their journey by ferry.

By Air: If you are planning to visit Majuli island by air then you can witness two airports near this island. One at a distance of 50 kilometres is named Jorhat airport whereas Guwahati international airport is the other which is at a distance of 365 kilometres from the island. Both the airport’s cabs are available that can lead a traveller to Neemati Ghat. After arriving at the river bank a traveller has to opt for a ferry service that can transfer visitors to Majuli island.
