On the Brahmaputra River in Assam, there is a river island called Majuli. It also happens to be the largest island in Asia and the second-largest freshwater river island on the whole planet. It is a remote area. Because this area is cut off from the constant bustle and commotion of the mainland, nature has silently encroached and enticed its residents into a life of calm. While the Kherkutia Xuti meets the River Subansiri in the north, the Brahmaputra runs through the south of the island. The island previously had an area of more than 1500 square kilometers. However, the Brahmaputra waters were not so benevolent, and nearly one-third of the island was eroded. Currently, Majuli only covers 352 sq km. This island is still being eroded by the Brahmaputra. But because it is big enough to contain a number of tiny communities, a new district has recently been established there. Several tribes call the area home, most notably the Mishings.

Summer:Majuli experiences a very hot and humid climate condition during the summer months, with the summer season the maximum temperature of Majuli reaches up to 38 degrees Celsius and the minimum remains near 28 degrees Celsius. Therefore, if you visit Majuli during the hottest months of the year you will not be able to enjoy your Majuli excursion at all. Summer season in Majuli arrives at the start of March and swelters its habitants till the end of July.
Monsoon:Majuli experiences the rainy season from the start of June till the end of August and it has a uniform temperature that ranges between 22- 32 degree Celsius. During this time due to heavy rainfall, most of its coastline submerged inside the river Brahmaputra. Although occasionally rainfall enhances the beauty of this isle, it is recommended that you better skip the plan of visiting it during the monsoon months. Because increases in the current and level of river water create difficulties for ferry riders to ride their ferry through this ferocious flowing water.
Winter:Undoubtedly winter is referred to as the best time to visit Majuli because during the winter months the temperatures range between 25-17 degree Celsius. Which thereafter provides a suitable weather conditions for its travelers to explore the entire island as well as to perform many outdoor sports like boating, cycling, bamboo house stay, and many more. How to Reach Majuli
By Road: Majuli is a river island with no roadways connecting it to any large towns or cities. As a result, guests cannot be brought to the little island by buses or taxis. Jorhat is reachable by road. Travelers must take a 7-hour bus ride from Guwahati to Jorhat. Travelers can also take a private cab to Jorhat. They’ll have to rely on ferries to go to Majuli from here.
By Train: Majuli is devoid of railway stations. To visit Majuli by train, tourists must take trains from Guwahati to Jorhat, the nearest rail station. Travelers from Jorhat may take buses and cabs to Neemati Ghat, where they can board boats to Majuli.
By Air: Jorhat Airport, also known as Rowriah Airport, has regular flights from Guwahati and other eastern and northeastern regions. Neemati Ghat is around 14 kilometers from Jorhat and can be accessed by bus or cab. Tourists may get to Majuli by ferry from Neemati Ghat. Every day, two boat journeys go from Neemati Ghat to Majuli. The hours are 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
