Places to visit during Jowai Trekking Tour

Tyrshi Falls

Tyrshi Falls, Jowai’s counterpart to Shillong’s Elephant Falls, can be found on National Highway 6 (Shillong – Jowai Highway), only 20 kilometres south of Nartiang. In actuality, it towers over Elephant Waterfall by a factor of three. Only 5 km away in Jowai, it is easily reachable from there. It is an unnoticed fall in the Meghalayan state’s Jaintia Hills District. A stretch of lush paddy fields is crossed by a charming arch bridge, which then opens up to reveal the roaring Tyrshi falls crashing down to the Pynthor (paddy fields) below. Your descent to the bottom of the falls, which flow down like milk over a vertical drop, is made easier by a winding trail that provides a stunning and panoramic view of the Pynthor Nein.

Krang-Suri Falls

One of Meghalaya’s most beautiful waterfalls is Krang Suri Fall, which is tucked away in the tranquil Jaintia Hills. The falls are gifted with glistening blue waters and a gorgeous setting of thick greenery. Your soul can be refreshed by Krang Suri Falls serene ambiance and attractive beauty. Krang Suri Fall is a beautiful waterfall in the wonderland of nature. This enchanted fall is a must-visit location away from the grind of daily life. Outside of the city, this fall is the perfect time for picnic enthusiasts. The Amlarem Civil Sub Division is where it is situated. The District Administration has taken steps to build gravelled and chiselled trails and vistas to allow tourists to better appreciate the beauty of the waterfall and its surrounds in an effort to turn the location into a tourist destination. The footpaths were hewn from the local, naturally occurring colourful stones; no cement was used, and the stones were arranged symmetrically to improve the area’s aesthetic appeal.

Nartiang Village

In Nartiang, a Jaintia region of Meghalaya, one of the best places to observe well-preserved relics from this beautiful age is. The garden of monoliths is a collection of enormous monoliths that were erected as monuments to the former kings. Along a short, winding path that snakes between and around the massive monoliths, you are free to explore and take in the surreal surroundings. Umlawan Caves

For those looking for adventure, Umlawan Cave in the Lumshnong town, 60 kilometres to the east of Jowai, is a fascinating stop. Jarain Pitcher Plant Lake

Syntu Ksair

On the banks of the Myntdu River, there is a sizable area of land known as Syntu Ksiar. In the native Jaintia language, Syntu Ksiar literally translates as “the golden bloom.” The town was named after a woman by the name of Syntu who belonged to the “Iawchibidi” clan, according to folklore. The lady is thought to have jumped into this river to commit suicide. A gorgeous golden flower, said to be extraordinarily beautiful and impervious to picking, grows in the middle of the river after she falls into it and drowns. As a result, the location’s name derives from a specific flower that thrives there.In the Jowai region, Syntu Ksiar is now a great location for a picnic and fishing. Thadlaskein Lake

An extremely popular weekend destination for locals is Thadlaskein Lake, a man-made body of water. The lake was created by the followers of Jaintia Chieftain, U Sajar Nangli, using the bottom of their bows and fed by a perennial spring. Lalong Park

About 8 kilometres separate Jowai from the Park. It is renowned for its holy grove and for being situated with a view of the lovely Pynthorbah Valley. The District Administration has taken steps to improve the park through the Special DRDA Tourism Project by building infrastructure such as water dams and canals, restrooms with changing rooms, hoardings, and jungle clearance that has drawn tourists from all over the world. How to Reach Jowai

By Road: Although Jowai has decent road access, there aren’t many buses that travel this route. Assam, Mizoram, Tripura, Meghalaya, and certain areas of Tripura are connected via National Highway 44, which passes through Jowai. Utilizing the shared passenger transportation services of the Tata Sumo and Tata Indica is the most practical method to go to Jowai via road.
