Places to visit during Jowai Tour

Syntu Ksair

On the banks of the Myntdu river, there is a sizable area of land known as Syntu Ksiar. It is a beautiful area that is well-liked for picnics. Literally translated as “the bloom of gold,” Syntu Ksiar may have acquired this name as a result of the beautiful surroundings in which it is situated. It is renowned for being the epicenter of the liberation struggle. In honor of the independence fighter Kiang Nongbah, who led an insurrection against the British, a memorial has been built. On December 30, 1862, he was executed by hanging in Jowai Town.

Jarain Pitcher Plant Lake

It is a picnic area as well, but it has a special feature that only a few places in the nation can claim. As the name of the lake suggests, pitcher plants, which are unusual carnivorous plants, are abundant there. These plants are spread out over 50,000 square metres. Observing pitcher plants’ extensive greenery is a fascinating and enjoyable experience. Arch bridges and footpaths have been built to enhance the area’s charm. A fountain in the middle of the lake that was constructed in the form of a pitcher plant is another draw.

Nartiang Monoliths

One of India’s most significant landmarks, the Nartiang Monoliths, is of great national significance. One of its many magnificent megaliths is around 27 feet high and 7 feet broad. Some are thought to date from the Paleolithic era. While at Nartiang, you can visit the renowned weekly market in addition to seeing one of the most significant old buildings in the nation. Lalong park

Tyrshi Falls

Tyrshi Falls, a stunning waterfall, is located on National Highway 44 on the Shillong-Jowai road. It is renowned as Jowai’s counterpart to Shillong’s Elephant Falls and is only 5 kilometres from Jowai. Visitors can access the falls through an arch bridge. A beautiful view of the Pynthor Nein, a sizable rice valley, is available.

In the Jaintia Hill district of Meghalaya, Jowai is a town surrounded by lush greenery. Given its elevation of 1,400 kilometres above sea level and year-round excellent weather, it is situated there. A river named the Myntdu river borders Jowai on three sides and shares its southern border with Bangladesh. In this area, the temperature ranges from 6 degrees Celsius to 30 degrees Celsius at its hottest. When compared to any other palace in India, Jowai’s summer weather is consistently favourable, with maximum temperatures reaching up to 30 degrees Celsius and minimum temperatures hovering around 22 degrees. The best time for honeymooners to travel to this beautiful region of Meghalaya is now, before the rainy season starts, and enjoy a sport-related activity. In Jowai, winter lasts longer than summer and monsoon and offers honeymooning couples a cool climate and foggy surroundings. The season of winter is thought to be the busiest in Jowai. In winter, Jowai has temperatures as high as 10 to 20 degrees Celsius, with overnight drops to 4 degrees Celsius. By Road: National Highway 44, which passes through Jowai, is the town’s lifeline. There are lots of buses that take this route and stop in Silchar and other places in Tripura. Tourists can also reserve a private tourist vehicle to travel from Shillong to Jowai. On either side of the road are small communities and picturesque countryside.

By Train: Since Meghalaya doesn’t have a railhead, the only way to get to Jowai by train is from the Guwahati station. The distance between Jowai and Guwahati, which is about 160 kilometres, is about 4 hours. In order to reach Jowai via road, visitors must first go to Shillong.

By Air: Umroi has the closest airport to Jowai. Direct flights only go to Kolkata, though. Therefore, purchasing tickets to Guwahati and then driving the remaining distance is advised. The international airport in Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi is conveniently located close to all parts of the country.
