CHERRY BLOSSOM FESTIVAL

Shillong is not only just famous for its tranquil beauty, Sylvan Hills and Gushing Waterfalls. Moreover, Japan and US. Shillong is also famous for its blooming cherry trees. Shillong is celebrating the India International Cherry blossom festival 2019, the unique autumn flowering of Himalayas.

The four-day long India International Cherry Blossom Festival, starting from November 13th 2019 to Nov 16th 2019 is being organized by the Forest and Environment Department (FEDG), Government of Meghalaya affiliated with the Institute of Bio-resources and Sustainable Development (IBSD) in collaboration with the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR). It is held in different regions of the city like Wards Lake, Polo 5th Ground, Golf Course, State Central Library, State Convention Centre and Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. As like Japan, Shillong remains the prime location in the Entire India for attending the Cherry Blossom Festival or Viewing the blooming cherry trees.

Tourist insights flow rapidly during the peak of blooming season. The Residents of Shillong and the tourists attend the festival and get engaged in the several cultural events guided night walks under illuminated cherry blossoms to online photography competition, from live western music bands to beauty pageants and much more. There would also be an amateur Golf Tournament at Polo Golf Course. Along with the festival there will be stalls showcasing the traditional foods of Northeast, wines and handicrafts.

They would also organize a K-Pop Events including K-Pop concert along with Korean cuisine stalls in collaboration with the Korean Cultural Centre India (KCI).
