Places to visit during Dawki One Day Tours

Jaflong Zero Point

Jaflong Zero Point is situated at a distance of only one kilometre from Dawki main market. It is located quite near to Bangladesh and this is the only point where the cleanest river of India known as Dawki or Umngot river enters Bangladesh. This constrained site offers a stunning viewpoint from where you can witness the unbelievable quality of the Umngot river. At zero point you can observe a large number of BSF Jawans who look after the unexpected conditions and protect the border. From this point you can see Bangladesh and its people on the opposite side you can also perceive small-small shops, hawkers and peddlers selling goods and commodities. Jaflong is famous because of its stone accumulations and the Khasi clan.

Borhills Falls

Borhill falls is located on the way to Dawki, it is 85 kilometres away from the capital city of Meghalaya and situated quite close to Dawki and Bangladesh border. It is so close to Bangladesh that you can observe mountains and valleys in one side of the road and the other side you can witness clearly the border plains of Bangladesh. From the viewpoint of Borhill falls you can also perceive how the pouring cascade of Borhill entering the Bangladesh. The roads that pass through this outstanding fall is parallel to Bangladesh border fences and the moment you ahead your journey from this point after 10-15 minutes you can see one more stunning waterfall and beneath this pool you can find a natural pool in which you can plunge.

Mawlynnong

Mawlynnong, a village which has earned the title of cleanest village of Asia in the Year 2003. It is pronounced as the cleanest village of India by Discover India. The evergreen surroundings and well protected traditions of the khasi people provides a perfect site for travellers. You can also observe an iconic place of Meghalaya in its region that is Nohwet Living Root Bridge. The bridge is made by a process of weaving roots of two Ficus Elastica trees that were growing on each side of the river with a frame. This mesmerising bridge gets stronger as they grow old because these roots belong to a flourishing tree. There is a gushing pool below this bridge where you can plunge.

Umngot River

Summer:The summers here are not as scorching as in other parts of north India. The best time to experience this location’s breathtaking grandeur is from March through June. In the summer, many people visit the Umngot River because the water appears to be crystal clear. The temperature lies between 25 and 30 degrees Celsius. How to Reach Dawki

By Road: Dawki, which lies on Meghalaya’s southern border, is situated around 82 kilometers south of Shillong. The most practical way to go to Dawki is via taxi or other privates vehicle. You might also rent a motorcycle and go from Guwahati to experience one of the greatest rides in the country.
