Places to visit during Dawki Camping

Jaflong Zero Point

Jaflong Zero Point, from Dawki main market at a distance of only one kilometre this point is located. The place is quite close to Bangladesh, and this is the place where the cleanest river of India enters the Bangladesh border plain. This constrained site provides an astonishing view of Bangladesh, and travellers to this site can witness a great number of BSF Jawans, those who keep their eyes on unforeseen activities. From this location travellers can witness small-small hawkers and peddlers selling their products and commodities near the border of Bangladesh. Due to stone accumulation and Khasi Clan this point is popular all over India.

Borhills Falls

Borhill falls, one can witness this fall on their way to Dawki, located at a distance of 85 kilometres from Shillong. It is near to Bangladesh border, when you visit this location, you can observe mountains on one side and the other side the border plains of Bangladesh. There is a viewpoint near this fall and travellers can witness the cascading water from the Borhill falls entering Bangladesh border plains. Since it is a major waterfall therefore, witnessing this fall from a short distance is strictly not allowed. The moment you cross this waterfall and head your journey towards Dawki, after 10-15 minutes of driving, travellers can observe one more fall and bottomless of this fall there is a pond where they can dive and hangout for a while.

Mawlynnong

Mawlynnong, one of the neatest villages in Asia. In the year 2003 by Discover India crowned this place with this title and till it was able to maintain its position. The best part of this village is that when a traveller enters this village, he/she will observe a thing and that someone or the other one is busy cleaning. This amazing village is not only clean but it has about a hundred percent literacy rate. Since 2007 this village people have been using functional toilets. Umngot River

Summer:Summer months are not so hot in Dawki, it is quite pleasant compared to other places that are situated in the northern side of India. In simple words, it is termed the best time when you can visit this location and explore all its scenic vistas. Nonetheless, this is the only time when you can observe crystal clear water in the Umngot river. During the summer months temperature ranges between 30-22 degree Celsius. Although this temperature looks hard, it will not be going to create any difficulties in sightseeing and other activities like boating, swimming, zip lining, kayaking, scuba diving, and snorkeling.

Monsoon:During the wettest months of the year, the Dawki region receives a very heavy amount of rainfall therefore, it is advised to avoid visiting it during the rainy season. Because of heavy rainfall, even the Umngot river which is considered crystal clear becomes totally muddy. Which thereafter reduces its whole charm. Every year Dawki receives around 3,704 mm of rainfall. In Dawki monsoon arrives at the start of July and lasts till the end of September and this is the only time period when you can witness lots of landslides and roadblocks due to heavy rain.

Winter:Winter months are the best months to visit Dawki, winter starts in this region at the starting of November and lasts till March. How to Reach Dawki

By Road: Dawki is located on Meghalaya’s southern border, approximately 82 kilometers south of Shillong. The most convenient way to go to Dawki is to take a taxi or other private automobile. You might also rent a motorcycle and ride from Guwahati to enjoy one of the greatest rides in the country.
