Places to visit during Cherrapunji Adventure Tour

Mawkdok Dympep Valley

Mawkdok Dympep Valley Viewpoint is a fantastic vintage point situated on the Shillong-Cherrapunji route in Meghalaya, 24 km from Cherrapunji and 30 km from Shillong. It is also known as Duwan Sing Syiem Bridge Viewpoint, and it is a well-known tourist destination in Cherrapunji. The Duwan Sing Syiem Bridge, a viewpoint for the Mawkdok Dympep Valley, offers a beautiful panoramic view of the Valley. To get to the viewpoint, which was created by the Forest Department, one must descend a number of stairs. Visitors may see a surreal view of nature in this virgin valley because it has never been commercialized. The traditional Khasi clothing may be worn here to snap pictures.

Nohkalikai Falls

The fourth-highest waterfall in the world, Nohkalikai Falls, plunges 335 metres from a verdant rock to the earth, displaying an immense and incomparable grandeur. The falls, which are among the most beautiful and majestic in the country, is a source of pride for the state of Meghalaya. Between the falls, which thunder with all their might and grandeur into a lagoon as blue as the afternoon sky, lies the evergreen rainforest of Khasi Hill.

Seven Sister Falls

Seven Sisters Waterfalls, which live up to its name, is made up of seven separate waterfalls that are pleasantly situated next to one another on a broad, craggy cliff that seems distinctive from a distance. On the Gangtok-Lachung Highway, this spectacular waterfall is located 32 kilometers from Gangtok. After the rain, it springs to life and gives a mesmerizing vista, making it even more stunning. The roaring sound is created by the gurgling water as it cascades down the limestone cliffs and through the lush greenery. The sight of the sun setting entices tourists to engage in an extended photographic session.

Mawsmai Caves

Of the spectacular and enigmatic cave systems in Meghalaya, Mawsmai Cave is by far the most well-known. Only 6 separate the Cherrapunjee Mawsmai cave’s core from an incredible network of caverns in Meghalaya’s East Khasi Hills. The well-lit caverns are a sight to behold as the glittering lights combine with the limestone to generate myriad hues and patterns of light.

Arwah Caves

Arwah Cave is a massive cave situated in the Khliehshnong region of Cherrapunji in Meghalaya, 3.5 km away from Cherrapunji Bus Stand. It is one of the well-known caverns in Meghalaya and one of the breathtaking tourist destinations in Cherrapunji, and it is well-known for its limestone formations and fossils. Arwah Cave in Meghalaya, which is encircled by the dense Law Shynna forest, is a real treat for adventure and antiquities seekers. Only a small portion of the cave, which is substantially bigger than Mawsmai, has been made accessible to tourists. It is around 300 meters long and may be explored in 20 minutes. Arwah Cave was just recently found and seldom explored. When crawling through the tight spaces, it is very gloomy and unsettling inside tunnels.

Wei-Sawdong Falls

A stunning waterfall in the middle of the forest, where the stairs were also constructed using sustainable practices. Cherrapunji Eco-Park

It was built on Meghalaya’s plateaus by the state government, and both residents and visitors find it to be quite appealing. This park has received numerous lovely orchids from Shillong Agri-Horticulture, which are kept in the greenhouse of the Eco park. The observation point from where visitors may take in views of Bangladesh’s enormous, uninteresting, yet fascinating Sylhet Plains is the Eco park’s strongest selling point.

Double Decker Root Bridge

The magnificent Jingkieng Nongriat Double Decker Living Root Bridge—also known as the Umshiang Double Decker Living Root Bridge or simply the Double Decker Root Bridge—can be found tucked away in the thick, green forests of Cherrapunjee, Meghalaya, the region with the highest annual rainfall in all of India. The Double Decker Bridge is the most well-known of all the Indian Rubber Tree root bridges in this region because of its magnitude. It is situated at a height of 2400 feet and is 3 kilometers long! A distinctive feature and incredibly creative fusion of engineering and nature. The bridge is located beneath the Umshiang River.

Dainthlen Falls

One of the most impressive views you will see is Dainthlen, a roaring waterfall that pierces the tough rocks and the high plateau of Sohra before tumbling into lush vegetation. For the Khasi people, it is also a key location culturally. You can navigate the stony, pot-holed river bed leading to the falls during the dry seasons. Folklore in the area claims that a significant fight took place here. The Thlen was an enormous snake that represented evil and was eventually slain by the locals of the long-gone village that is now Sohra.

Mawphlang Sacred Forest

The Sacred Forest of Meghalaya is located in Mawphlang, a picturesque town 25 kilometres from Shillong, the state capital of Meghalaya in northeastern India. The settlement, which is well-known for its holy forests, is located in the East Khasi Hills area. Given that it is one of the many monoliths in the Khasi Hills, the settlement is known by the name Mawphlang. Mawphlang, which translates as “Grassy Stone” (Maw phlang), is a region known for its mythical tales, blood sacrifices, and distinctive culture. Mawphlang is the place to go if you want to get a glimpse of the Khasi tradition, culture, and way of life that is vanishing in the contemporary world.

Weather in Cherrapunji

Summer:Summer in Cherrapunji starts from the beginning of March and lasts till the end of May. During the summer season Cherrapunji receives an average rainfall and it is partially exceptional during this period of time to explore its picturesque sites. July is referred to as the wettest month of the year in Cherrapunji. During the summer season the required temperature of cherrapunji ranges between 25-20 degree celsius. But nights are comparatively wintry compared to day time and it ranges between 17-15 degree celsius.

Monsoon:Cherrapunji is referred to as the second wettest place on earth and it receives rainfall all round the year. From the end of June Cherrapunji receives heavy rainfall till September. Even the required temperature due to heavy rainfall drops down to 16-12 degree celsius. July is the month which receives the heaviest rainfall compared to any other month in Cherrapunji. Therefore, from Travenjo it is advised to avoid visiting this one of the wettest places on earth during the monsoon season because heavy rainfall may play a spoilsport role to your pleasant trip.

Winter:Winter season of cherrapunji is referred to as the superb hour to visit it. By Road: If you are planning to visit Cherrapunji by road then you are simply doing the best thing in your life because in Meghalaya you have numerous sites that you can witness through your cab windshields and windows.
