1. Cafe Shillong 

Arguably Café Shillong is of the coolest restaurants cum cafes in Shillong.This place is actually a full-fledged restaurant that is known for its great food. The management who run the popular Center Point Hotel in Shillong runs this place too so the service is always top notch although on busy days the staff seems a little distracted.

The decor is quite eclectic with a khasi traditional guitar on the wall. The menu is very impressive although all items in the menu are available every day. Vegetarian food like the Veg Burger, Veg Pasta and Veg Noodles are highly appreciated by the customers. In the list of Dessert Menu people love to have brownie with ice cream.

Meat lovers too have a wide choice. A must try is the Khauswey, a local dish served with many side dishes, boiled eggs, shredded prawn, chilli Soya Chunks,  roughly chopped lemon and spring onion. 2.City Hut Family Dhaba

True to its name, the restaurants waiting area is modeled after a typical village styled hut in order to present the guests with a unique experience. The restaurant area is however quite modernistic and there are many items of decor in the City Hut Family Dhaba that will please you like the beautiful wishing well located at the front of the entrance, simulated waterfall with actual white ducks swimming around. On the other side of the reception counter you will see beautifully arranged selections of organic vegetables and fruits and even sacks of grains used as decor items. There is a coal bonfire inside the restaurant which is a bonus to the guests on colder days.

The Thalis are hot sellers in the restaurant and it is better not to order multiple starters if you intend to try the Thali which has sufficient times to meet your appetite. The momos (both steamed and fried) are hot sellers too and many families can be seen happily digging into their Dal Makhani and Mutter Paneer. The North Indian Thalis (fish, chicken, egg and veg variants are offered) all range between Rs.250 to Rs.300 INR.

The City Hut Family Dhaba is mostly packed on all days at meal hours and it is one of the few popular restaurants in Shillong that does not serve alcohol. 3.DejaVu 

DejaVu is the most prominent dining destination for the young cool community of Shillong and the preferred restaurants for tourists too. It is one of the best Chinese restaurants in Shillong. The restaurant has a nice ambience. It is co-owned and managed by the City Hut Dhaba Group so professional and quick service is found here. This restaurant mostly specializes in Chinese Food which is reasonably priced. The food is one of the best in Shillong.

The staffs are friendly and well behaved. The restaurant is located at the third floor of the building at a busy junction. It is nearby Nazareth Hospital.

4.Qzine Restaurant

Qzine restaurant is located nearby the busy crowded way of Police Bazar Main Marketand is at the First Floor. You have to keep an eye on the signboard while passing through the market. The place is air conditioned and despite its sophisticated looksit is quite affordable. However there is no elevator but a steep flight of stairs that leads up to the restaurant.

Qzine Restaurant is known for North Indian dishes though the menu is extensive and features south Indian and Chinese dishes too. Chicken Bharta, Mutton Roghan Josh, Kadhai Paneer, Paneer Butter Masala, Laccha Aloo, Kebabs are some of its specialties. The vegetarian Tandoori platter is quite different and delicious and so as the American Corn Dish. Qzine is owned by the owner of Madras Cafe. There are three super comfortable booths that line the wall, you will definitely like the comfort that they offer.

5.Barbeque Restaurant

It is one of the more popular Chinese restaurants in Police Bazaar area, Barbeque has a unique its own unique ambience. The dim lighting, Chinese peripherals on the wall and the design of furniture relate it to the Chinese art that imparts itself well to a hill town like Shillong.

There is always a huge crowd during lunch and dinner hours, so arriving early would be best as the restaurant has limited number of seats. Food is mostly delicious and typically non vegetarian menu is far more extensive than the vegetarian options. Momos and Chows are mostly sold here.
