Places to visit during Assam Adventure Tour

Kaziranga National Park

One of India’s national treasures in terms of flora and wildlife, Kaziranga National Park is home to the world’s biggest population of one-horned rhinos. It is situated in the Assam state of northeastern India and occupies a total area that is shared by the districts of Nagaon, Golaghat, and Karbi Anglong. Kaziranga National Park, which is about five hour’s drive from Guwahati, is the pinnacle of India’s successful animal protection. It received the title of World Heritage Site from UNESCO in 1985.

Manas National Park

Assam’s Manas National Park is a Project Tiger Reserve, an Elephant Reserve, and a Biosphere Reserve in addition to being a UNESCO Natural World Heritage site. Manas is one of the best-kept national parks in India and the only tiger reserve in Assam. It is also well-known for the red panda and the uncommon golden langur. In addition to its abundant biodiversity, Manas is renowned for its breathtaking beauty and natural terrain, which has a variety of wooded hills, alluvial plains, and tropical evergreen forests. It is the second-largest tiger habitat in India. It is renowned for having a large population of wild water buffalo. The IUCN Red Book lists the most endangered Indian species in Manas.

Kamakhya Temple

The Kamakhya Temple, also known as Kamrup-Kamakhya, is a well-known Hindu temple. This sacred pagoda, one of the 51 Shakti Pithas, was constructed by worshippers in adoration of the mother goddess Kamakhya. It is located atop Nilachal Hill in the lovely Indian state of Assam city of Guwahati. Thousands of Hindu pilgrims visit this place of worship every day, making it a key destination for their journeys. It is a sight to see due to the tranquility and quiet that surround it as well as its picturesque backdrop of the captivating Nilachal Hill. However, the Tantrik worshippers and their black magic rituals at this sacred site of worship have made it quite well-known.

Majuli Island

Majuli is a beautiful, verdant, pollution-free, freshwater island in the Brahmaputra River that is about 20 kilometers from Jorhat and 347 kilometers from Guwahati. Majuli, the largest river island in the world with a total size of 1250 sq. km., draws visitors from all over the world. Majuli, one of India’s most bizarre locations, is a leading candidate for inclusion on the list of UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites. Majuli is mostly populated by Tribals, and one of the main factors why people adore this location so much is because of its distinctive and fascinating culture. It is sometimes referred to as Assam’s cultural capital. All of the festivities observed here are cheerful and lively.

Hoollongapar Gibbon Wildlife Sanctuary

This remote wildlife refuge, which is 20 kilometers from the nearest town, is well-known for its population of hoolock gibbons. This area is an excellent enclosure for the 40 or so species of hoolock gibbons that live there since it is surrounded by the Brahmaputra river on one side and tea gardens on the other. In addition to the gibbon, there are other animal species to be found here, including the capped langur, pigtail macaque, Assamese macaque, rhesus macaque, slow loris, elephant, and many more.

Kakochang Waterfalls

One of the most well-known waterfalls in Assam is Kakochang Waterfalls, which are situated at an elevation of 116 meters. It is positioned in the uncharted forests of Bokakhat and is also known as Kakojan. This location is where the medieval Numaligarh was located. But in addition to that, these waterfalls provide a wonderful picnic location and give guests a breathtaking view.

Tocklai Tea Research Center

In Jorhat, Assam, next to the River Tocklai, lies the Tocklai Team Center, also known as the Tocklai Tea Research Center or the Tocklai Experimental Station for Tea Research. This tea station, which was established in 1911, is regarded as one of the biggest and oldest tea stations in the world and is unquestionably a must-see location for all tea enthusiasts.

Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary

The Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary is situated in Assam, some 30 kilometers from Guwahati in the Morigaon District, and is home to the densest population of One-horned Rhinos in the world. A staggering variety of bird species may be seen in the nature reserve. It is understandable why it is sometimes referred to as “Bharatpur of the East.” Due to its close vicinity to Guwahati, it has greatly increased in popularity. Many people make a pit break at Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary on their way to Kaziranga National Park.

Orang National Park

The oldest wildlife reserve in the stunning state of Assam is called Orang National Park, and it is situated on the banks of the Brahmaputra River. The districts of Darrang and Sonitpur share this national park, which is situated 110 kilometers north of Guwahati. Rajiv Gandhi Orang National Park is its official name. The One-horned Rhinos and Royal Bengal Tigers of Orang Park are well-known.

Umananda Island

Umananda Island, the smallest river island in the world, is full of tales and is a peaceful, tranquil place where people and nature coexist. The Mighty Brahmaputra River, which runs through the center of Guwahati, has Umananda Island as its source. The presence of humans has not yet devastated an island that is the subject of several stories. Among the British Colonists, it was referred to as Peacock Island because of its form. The island is home to Golden Langurs, a very rare and endangered species that is extremely revered by the Himalayan people.

Dipor Bil

Dipor Bil (sometimes spelled Deepor Beel) is a freshwater lake in the ancient Brahmaputra river channel. It is situated in the Kamrup district of Assam, 18 kilometers southwest of Guwahati city. including a sizable 40 sq. The lake, which has a length of km, was designated a bird sanctuary in 1989 because of its extensive biodiversity. Dipor Bil is one of Assam’s top tourist destinations since it is home to a wide diversity of unusual bird species. The region is well recognized for its unspoiled beauty and biodiversity, and it provides a breathtaking view of the diverse forest and wetland ecosystems.
